Our journey into circular economy begins in 2015. From a research project in collaboration with Lavazza, Novamont and Polytechnic of Turin, we begin to transform coffee grounds to create a new system for the mushrooms cultivation. This experience led us to think of a new entrepreneurial reality in 2016, Fungobox, the kit for the self-production of fresh mushrooms from coffee wastes. The know-how we acquire leads us to carry out a new vision of a zero-waste and bio-based material, with infinite expressive possibilities. Thus, in 2019 the idea of Coffeefrom was born.
Coffeefrom is our upcycling vision to reduce wastes. The lesson we have learned is that, although coffee grounds often represent an industrial waste of many sectors, they still store a high quality and value content. Inspired by the richness of the material, we want to turn coffee wastes into a new resource, thus promoting the reuse of eco-composite plastic materials and reducing the emissions of CO2.
Our project is based on a strong social responsibility. We put people first, starting from the integration of fragile workers in daily activities. Our goal is to generate a positive impact on local communities, in order to make inclusivity our distinctive element.
Coffeefrom is the zero-waste material for infinite expressive possibilities. For this reason, our research is always in progress: together with our partners, we constantly study, experiment and evaluate new forms and innovative applications, to make them increasingly sustainable and technically performing.
For about 1 gram of ground coffee 1 gram of coffee wastes is produced. Here begins a new waste recovery and transformation journey. We are committed to making our values more concrete, combining research and innovation with a virtuous circle of relationships and collaborations throughout the supply chain.
